Character Design Possibilities

Ok I made some changes thanks to the helpful suggestions you guys have offered. They're now slightly more saturated, the lower design has a double mane, and the design up top now has a space-tail. Thoughts?

Heyo everyone.

I recently came to the realization that I have no characters, which led me to the eventual conclusion that I'd like to change that. And so these little boogers came into existence. That's like a rule, right? More often than not Baby's first character design is some variation of a Fu Dog. So yeah I'm really breaking some new ground here but baby steps. 

Critique/suggestions would be really appreciated on which variation you prefer, as well as what you would add/change. I think I prefer the colors on pink-guy up top but I also love how delightfully kitschy space-tail is on the bottom. Should I swap out the scarf for a more traditional collar? Make the scarf more interesting? I dunno. Character design isn't a strength of mine but I'd love to change that.

I don't need both designs so I figure I'll pick one and either trade away or attempt to sell the other. We shall see. :v
